Rocco Carzo IV

Founder and Lead Instructor

Rocco was born and raised in Media, Pa. He began playing hockey locally at IceWorks in Aston, starting with the Delco Phantoms, eventually working his way up to tier 1 AAA with the Little Flyers, while also attending and playing for Cardinal O’Hara. At age 16, he was drafted by and began playing for the DesMoines Buccaneers in the USHL. Following two years in DesMoines, he earned a scholarship to play Division 1 hockey for the University of Massachusetts Amherst (Hockey East). He played four seasons at UMass, captaining the team his final year, graduating with a degree in Kinesiology. He immediately signed his first professional contract with the Florida Everblades, and spent the next seven years playing professionally in North America. He earned numerous call ups to the American Hockey League (AHL), with stints with the Anaheim Ducks and New York Islanders farm teams. He has been coaching youth players for the past four off-seasons, including private and semi private lessons, planning and running numerous camps and clinics, and most recently creating RC4 Hockey. He has coached multiple tournament AAA select teams throughout the off-seasons.

 

John Mortimer

Head of Strength and Conditioning/Skills Coach

John was born and raised in Morton, Pa, and grew up playing. hockey locally for various teams. He played hockey up through college, playing both lacrosse and hockey at Neumann University. After college, he pursued a career in Strength and conditioning, getting his NASM certification and jumping right into the field.

John has been with RC4 Hockey for 5 years now, mainly heading our strength and conditioning program in our Training Facility. He writes and programs all of our in-season Training sessions for all of our Little Flyers and Delco Phantom teams. He is also the Head Trainer for all our figure skating programs we run throughout the year!

Jared Brandt

 

Kansas City Skills Coach

Jared was born and raised in St Louis, Missouri , and played locally for the Jr Blues and St Louis Selects for his youth hockey years. After 1 year of U18 AAA hockey, he was drafted by the Minot Minotaurs in the NAHL, where he played for 3 years (captaining the squad his final year). He eventually earns himself a scholarship to play Division 1 NCAA Hockey at Miami-Ohio University, a CCHA powerhouse. For his final 3 years of college, he played fore Niagara University, manning their blueline and earning a “C” his final year there! He ended up playing a total of 115 Division 1 games!

Following his graduation, He signed a pro contract with the Reading Royals, the minor league affiliate for the Philadelphia Flyers. He ended up playing a total of 3 years of Professional hockey, with stops in Worcester and Kansas City as well!

When he decided to step away from playing, he knew instantly he wanted to get into coaching! He is now the Hockey Director for the Carriage Club Program in Kansas City, and he helps RC4 Hockey every summer with out summer camps!

TJ Avellino

Skills Coach

Coach TJ grew up locally in Ridley, Pa, and played (almost) his entire youth career at Iceworks! he is the definition of working through the ranks, as he started with the Learn To Play program at Iceworks, working his way all the way up to captain of the EHL Junior team. He played the majority of his youth with the Delco Phantoms, before earning his way onto the Little Flyers AAA Midget Program. He quickly earned the respect of both his coaches and teammates, and was named team captain in his second year with the Program.

After two years with the Midget Program, he earn a spot on the EHL Junior team, playing a year there before moving on to Team Maryland Juniors. After a year there, he decided to take his talents to Kent State University, where he is currently a sophomore, and ALREADY an assistant captain!

TJ returns to us every summer to work with the youth of the rink that shaped him into the player he is today!

John Scott Dickson

Kansas City Skills Coach

John Scott was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario. He played youth hockey locally, before moving on to the Ontario Hockey Leagues’ Windsor Spitfires. He spent 5 years with the Spitfires, leading the team at Captain and Top Scorer his last year. From there, he took his talents to Canadian University Powerhouse, The University OF New Brunswick, where he played another 5 years, winning multiple Championships. His final year, he led the team in scoring, which led to an opportunity to join the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League, signing his first Pro Contract.

He spent 6 years playing Pro hockey between the ECHL and AHL, eventually retiring and moving right into a coaching position with the Missouri Mavericks of the ECHL, where he coached our own Rocco Carzo. He was head coach with the Mavericks for 3 years, coaching many future NHLers like Carter Verhaghe, Tanner Fritz, and Ross Johnston. He now resides in Kansas City with his wife and 3 kids, and helps with numerous camps and clinics in the area, as well as holding the position of Hockey Director of the Kansas City Jr. Mavs.

Marcus Dickerson

Marcus comes to RC4 Hockey after a 4 year Junior Hockey career in the Ontario Hockey League, playing over 150 games with the Mississauga Steelheads. Growing up in West Deptford, NJ, he played locally for the Little Flyers because earning an invite to play in the top junior league in Canada. He is currently going back to school, and studying to get his Masters Degree in Business management. Marcus brings energy, and a great skill set to all of our camps and clinics. His skating ability and innovative ways to train kids always have the kids working hard, and challenging themselves!
